RECENT ADVANCES OF ENDOCRINOLOGY IN OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY


Abstract
The past decade has seen a remarkable increase in our knowledge of human reproductive physiology, in methodology, and in the clinical application of this knowledge. In obstetric and gynecological field, the recent views for the following problems were discussed, l e., hypothalamic regulation of FSH and LH, purification of human gonadotropins, biosynthetic pathways of estrogens, clinical endocrinology, immunological pregnancy tests, biosynthetic pathways Lof placental estrogens and progesterone, pregnancy and adreno-cortical function, pregnancy and thyroid, newborn endocrinology, assessment of feto-placental function by hormone assay, hormonal cytology, etc.
In any event, it can be said that a great deal of enjoyment and intellectual stimulation was derived from the reading and collating involved in developing this review. It is hoped that the reader will share at least a small part in this intellectual stimulation, and that, furthermore, he will be provided with an increased understanding of future advances and progress that must inevitably stand on the shoulders of the past.
